The latest Political Tracker Survey, conducted by CYMAR from March through September 2026, provides insight into public opinion and political trends across the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. Each survey wave included 500 respondents aged 18 and over.
Direction of Things in Cyprus
Perceptions show a gradual improvement, with the view that Cyprus is heading in the wrong direction falling from 72% to 64%, while positive views rose from 28% to 35%.
Cyprus Financial Situation in Two Years
Public expectations about Cyprus’s financial situation improved across the three waves. The share expecting deterioration fell from 62% to 47%, while expectations of improvement rose from 12% to 20%. Overall, pessimism declined, although it remains the dominant view.
Personal Financial Situation in Two Years
Expectations about personal finances improved, with those expecting deterioration falling from 39% to 29%, while expectations of improvement rose from 24% to 31%.
OPTIMISM ABOUT SETTLEMENT OF THE CYPRUS ISSUE
Optimism about a settlement of the Cyprus issue increased from 12% in March to 19% in June, remaining broadly stable in September at 18%. Despite this improvement, pessimism continues to dominate.
